In 2021, I was commissioned by the Old Dutch Waterline Foundation to design and develop virtual reality glasses that would serve as both immersive experiences and landmarks along historical walking and biking routes. These VR glasses highlight unique aspects of cultural water heritage, including fortified towns, mills, pumping stations, bridges, locks, and flood defenses.
With the ECCE VR, visitors can insert their phones into the landmarks and view their surroundings as they appeared in the past. Originally created for this specific project, the product has since expanded beyond its initial purpose and is now sold by ECCE Virtual Reality. Several of these devices have been installed across the Netherlands in municipalities such as Alkmaar, Woerden, Nieuwkoop, Schoonhoven, and Grave.
